Esther Quiroz Santos, PhD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Throughout her training and clinical work, Esther has had the privilege of working with individuals from many different backgrounds and walks of life. These experiences have shaped her into a flexible and client-centered therapist who values authenticity, connection, and collaboration. Her goal is to help clients find clarity, healing, and meaningful change in ways that feel genuine and sustainable.

Esther specializes in supporting individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, emotion dysregulation, and substance use concerns. As a fluent Spanish speaker, she is also deeply passionate about serving Spanish-speaking communities. She understands how language and cultural barriers can make it harder to access mental health care and strives to provide culturally responsive therapy that honors each client’s background, values, and lived experiences. Above all, Esther aims to create a warm and welcoming space where every client—Spanish-speaking or otherwise—feels seen, heard, and understood.

Evidence-based practices guide Esther’s work, and she primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other “third wave” approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). While she draws from these models, Esther tailors her approach to each person’s unique needs, believing that therapy works best when it feels personal, collaborative, and empowering.

Esther earned her BA in Psychology and Justice Studies from Rhode Island College in 2018, followed by her Master’s and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 2021 and 2024, respectively. She completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and her postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Providence Healthcare System through the Alpert Medical School of Brown University’s Clinical Psychology Training Program.

Outside of her clinical work, Esther enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved pets—two dogs and three cats! She loves going on nature walks, reading every romantasy novel she can get her hands on, dancing salsa, and playing softball.
